Recent Grand Hotel Minneapolis Review: "This beautiful hotel is centrally located in downtown Minneapolis amid an abundance of shopping and restaurants. The details, in this modern age of plastic and cheapness, are wonderful, from the inviting lobby to the carpeted panelled elevators and the beautifully presented bedrooms. I had a King room which was stylishly furnished with an enormous wooden headboard, a matching wardrobe, a lovely desk complete with all the techno connections one needs these days, cordless phones and an enveloping armchair.
The bathroom was cream and black marble with a large tub as well as a shower stall. The tub (I am not a "bath" person preferring to shower) had me in it the first night after a long drive, soaking and watching PBS on the TV at the foot of the tub. Towels fluffy and large. The shower stall had a double-headed shower head that activated all the tension out of my body.
The rooms do not have coffee makers. That being said, I am a tea person and making tea in those machines always produces a dreadful product. When one calls down for a wake-up call, the times are noted and the question follows; "what would you like with your wake-up call, coffee or tear" I ordered English Breakfast tea with milk and sweetners. At exactly the time requested the phone rang and a voice said, "Good morning, this is your wake-up call, your tea is at the door." Putting on one of their amazing robes I opened the door and there was a tray complete with a carafe of boiling water, tea bags and a selection of sweetners. Who nees a coffee makerr
Every time I phoned for a service, the operator answered using my name.
A slight disappoinment. The restaurant did not match the hotel. The cooked breakfast was a three star, but, the Continental was excellent. A nice selection of bagel, muffins and pastries. On Sunday evening the restaurant serves an "all you can eat" sushi bar. Being allergic to fish I had to leave as there were no other options offered. Overall, this is an elegant European hotel transplant"
